Project Description

On June 28, 2023, Haliburton County Council adopted the Community Climate Action Plan. The CCAP provides a long-term roadmap for the transition to a low carbon and resilient community.

The local impacts of climate change are already being felt through seasonal flooding, increased heat waves, and more extreme storms. Local contributions to climate change include greenhouse gas emissions from on-road transportation (67%), residential buildings (24%), industrial, commercial and institutional buildings (6%), and off-road transportation (3%).

Adapting to more variable and extreme weather, protecting our natural assets, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions will improve community health and wellbeing, generate job opportunities, and increase energy affordability and transportation options.
